We are delighted to be listed as a “hidden hotspot” and a “higher member” in the latest addition off the Trencherman’s Guide.

Rick Stein describes it as ‘a guide with teeth’ due to the strict entry criteria that restaurants must meet in order to be included.

If you would like to read our online listing you can find it HERE.

If you would like a hard copy of the guide, it really showcases an excellent selection of South West hospitality, they are available from the bar.

NEW YEAR’S EVE MENU

As the nights draw in and the air turns crisp, our kitchen have created new autumn menus that celebrate the richness and warmth of the season. Inspired by local produce, game, and hearty vegetables, our menus are designed for cosy lunches, indulgent dinners, and memorable moments shared at the table.

Our starters bring together comforting autumn flavours with vibrant touches of freshness. Think earthy game paired with sharp pickles, seafood uplifted by spice and citrus, and colourful vegetarian plates featuring butternut squash, lentils, and warming dukkah. Each dish is crafted to excite the palate while showcasing the very best of the harvest.

The mains continue this celebration of the season’s bounty. You’ll find dishes that balance elegance with comfort — from tender hake in a rich chowder and honey-glazed duck paired with roasted root vegetables, to inventive vegetarian options like roasted cauliflower with cheddar custard or miso-glazed celeriac with mushrooms and dashi. For those who prefer the classics, our kitchen also serves up a perfectly cooked sirloin steak or the nostalgic comfort of cider-battered haddock and chips, each elevated with thoughtful seasonal touches.

And because no meal is complete without something sweet, our puddings bring autumn to the table in truly indulgent style. Warm blackberry sponge with golden syrup sauce, spiced apple tart with oat crumble, and dark chocolate delice with whisky ice cream are just a few of the tempting ways to finish your meal.

The chimney has been swept and the fire will soon be crackling once more, creating the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. Pair the warmth of the fire with a glass of wine and a dish that celebrates the season, and you’ve got autumn dining at its finest
